Next on the chopping block are New Jersey's educational television stations:"...Gov. Christie has called for NJN - the only network to broadcast his budget address live in March - to operate independently as of Jan. 1, ending close to 40 years of state ownership..."

Goodbye, Ernie, Bert, Cookie Monster, Oscar and teaching preschoolers to read.
President Bush used to call himself, "The Education President" I think Christie is shooting to be "The Governor of Illiterates"
Sooo...what's your point? If eliminating the public TV and turn that over to an independent educational forum...what is the problem? Commercials?
There really is not a problem. The Federal Government got out of funding public TV a couple of decades ago and PBS is thriving through funding by private companies that want to reach their audience.
It's just the idea that the Governor is targeting educational institutions for defunding. (NJN is classified as a non-commercial educational TV station) it is just his state of mind that concerns me .
Can you explain why the Governor's staff is made up of 116 people about 25% of whom earn over $100K per year. Why we taxpayers have to pay the salaries of two "handmaidens" for his wife? ( Does NJ really need a First Lady) The Governor is not the President of the US and I do not see why he needs a White House size staff. (Corzine was no better with a staff almost that size)
I am just expressing my concerns about where the Governor is making his cuts and what his line of thinking is. I would like to see the Governor cut back the budgets of every department within the state the same percentage that he reduced aid to schools and municipalities.
